More than 3,000 years of history including over 1,100 years as the capital city of ancient dynasties, have endowed the city with an amazing historical heritage. Visitors marvel at the numerous historical sites and cultural relics in and around the city.

The urban transportation of the city has been somewhat frustrating in recent years because of the subway construction. Now subway line 1 and line 2 are in operation. Several other lines are also under construction or in the planning process. For now the buses and taxis can take you to get around the city.
