About Beijing
Geography
Beijing is located in the northeastern part
 of the country, north of the North China Plain, 
            there are mountains to the north and west. In the 
northwestern region there are the Jundu Mountains and in the west 
            are the Xishan Mountains and the Great Wall of China which 
runs across the northern region of the Beijing municipality.
Beijing is about 16,000 square kilometers 
and lies in the northern end of the Grand Canal of China, 
            three major rivers flow through region around Beijing, the 
Yongding River, Wenyu River and the Chaobai River. They 
            all empty into the Bohai Sea. Downtown Beijing has three 
lakes Xihai, Houhai and Qianhai and are circled by nightclubs 
            and

            restaurants. Aqueducts divert water from the Yongdong River to the city moat in the south. The network of moats 
            and aqueducts manage the flow of water from the cities’ rivers and lakes often through parks like the Purple Bamboo 
            Park.

The urban region of Beijing is in the south part of the municipality. Beijing is arranged 
            in concentric roads called 2nd Ring Road, 3rd Ring Road, etc. Beijing is at an elevation of 43.5 meters above sea 
            level and at the same altitude as Rome, Madrid and Philadelphia.
