Beijing Capital International Airport, PEK, is the major international airport for Beijing.
Located 26 km northeast of the city in Chaoyang District, it is China’s largest and busiest airport, and is the
major hub for both international and domestic flights. Recently having undergone a massive expansion with the new
Terminal 3, the airport can now handle about 56 million passengers per year.
With over 200 international and domestic
carriers serving Beijing Capital, you can fly to
Beijing from all over the world. Currently there are
non-stop flights to Beijing Capital from New York, Los Angeles,
San Francisco, Vancouver Canada, London Heathrow and Paris
CDG. Further direct flights from Washington, Toronto,
Tokyo, Sydney and Dubai are being added soon. Continental
Airlines flies non-stop to PEK from New York Newark and
starting in 2010 American Airlines will fly direct from
Chicago O’Hare and US Airways will travel non-stop from
Beijing airport sign.
Philadelphia. Terminal 3 is the home of the national airline Air China and Shanghai Airlines. China Southern
Airlines, China Eastern Airlines and SkyTeam members operating routes out of Terminal 2 to Hong Kong, Macau and
Taiwan, as well as other international and domestic destinations. Hainan Airlines and its subsidiaries fly out
of Terminal 1 to cities around China.
Beijing Capital is connected to downtown Beijing by airport shuttle bus, subway and taxi.
The airport has ATMs, money changers, and a variety of places to eat.
Another airport serving Beijing is
Nanyuan Airport, NAY, which is in the Fengtai District 15 km
south of downtown Beijing. Nanyuan is a military airport but
also serves over 1 million passengers on domestic flights.
It is the hub for China United Airlines which flies to most
major regional centers in China. You can purchase
discounted tickets at the airport at any time up to
departure. Access to Nanyuan from downtown is by airport bus or
taxi.
