Getting Around
As the capital city and China’s
transportation hub, Beijing is well served by airports with both
international and domestic flights and railways reaching out
to every part of the country. Within the city, public
transportation is efficient and economical, with a network
of subway lines, buses and streetcars. Taxis are prolific
and generally inexpensive. For a taste of life at street
level, nothing beats getting around by bicycle, walking or
rickshaws. To experience Beijing’s scenic rivers, waterways
and lakes, there are a multitude of boat tours and cruises.
