The Shandong peninsula not only entices those with a love of history, it also lures golf and wine enthusiasts to visit and sample our unique offerings. You may not realize it, but Shandong, China is on the same latitude as Bordeaux, France, and shares that famed region’s prime wine producing environment. Shandong is the only wine region in Asia evaluated by the International Wine Clubs Association.
Yantai, named as “the seventh best grape growing coastal area in the world,” is called the wine capital of Asia. Winery tours compliment the region’s other cultural delights, and are a highlight of any visit to Shandong.
Day One
Start your tour with a visit to the Baili Winery, a Continental style winery located in Qingdao. This was the first international winery in Shandong, started by Mr. Bailey from the United Kingdom.The region offers beautiful scenery of Laoshan Jiulongpo… imagine endless rows of lush green vines winding through a landscape of white villas.In the afternoon, visit Mount Lao, a famous mountain in Qingdao Laoshan National Park, near Qingdao.
The base of Mount Lao is located only 19 miles from downtown. Your ascent offers soaring peaks, green pine and cypress trees, hanging waterfalls and crystal streams. The Mount is known as the home to immortals, a place where Taoist rites are preformed and the location of the monastery of Quanzhen Tao Sect. There are several sacred sites on Mount Lao: Taiqing Palace (the location of two ancient cypress trees – where it is said that parts of the tree’s trunk will bring instant luck for those seeking money), Shanging Palace, Mingxia Cave, Taiping Palace and Hualou Palace.This evening enjoy the sites of Qingdao – The city is known as the Switzerland of Shandong.. The best example of the distinctive architecture is found in Ba Da Guan Scenic Area and Beer Town.
