weihai-galleryShandong Province boasts immense mountains, rivers, seas and lakes. Located in the eastern coastal area of China, Shandong is in the lower Yellow River valley. The Shandong Peninsula in the east protrudes between the Bohai and Yellow Seas from the land mass, and faces the Korean Peninsula and the Japanese Islands in the east. Along its golden coastline, there are nearly 300 elegant islands, the most beautiful scenic sites in the Far East and the largest beach in Asia. In the middle of Shandong Province stands the towering mountains. Mt. Tai, the premiere peak of China’s five sacred mountains soars in the center of the range. The world-renowned Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal runs through Western Shandong Plain. Situated here is Nansi Lake, one of the ten major freshwater lakes in China. The suggested five day itinerary provides a representative sampling of the natural treasures in Shandong, but one would require a much longer visit to experience the full bounty of this land.
